Russian Blue Berkshire Bloodline
History of the Line
This line was originally intended to bring markings into our Russian Cinnamon lines, but we've decided to leave that line Self and keep this line separate.
December 10, 2009 - DAZL Gadzooks x BVR Lacus Temporis
Purpose: Originally intended to bring markings into the Russian Cinnamon line, this breeding was meant to establish a secondary marked line which could be inbred separately for at least four generations, to ensure I wasn't bringing any health issues into my lines. At the same time, Dazzle Me did a related breeding with Lacus Temporis' sister (GCH BVR Sea of Tranqulity) to a male related to Gadzooks, and we exchanged offspring. This was intended to give us both a solid basis for this mutual outcross line. Notably, two chryptochid males were born in this litter, but no more have appeared in subsequent generations.

July 27, 2010 - BVR Oceanus Procellarum x BVR Almond Whirl
Purpose: Oceanus was a brother of Lacus and Tranquility, and had lovely conformation. He was bred at 20 months and produced a litter of spectacular markings with his neice. Unfortunately, Gadzooks brought us Red as well as markings, and the litter was a rainbown of recessives.

June 10, 2011 - CH DAZL Mockingbird x BVR Dawn Treader
Purpose: Mox was a son of Sea of Tranquility, who inherited her giant eyes, and had amazing conformation. Nice, strong head, big bones, and a lot of muscle. Unfortunatly his color was completely adulterated with the "yellowing" that makes his Russian Blue Agouti coloring weirdly bright. Dawn shares the giant eyes and strong head of the line, and has a much more correct color. The uncle-neice breeding was intended to keep my marked line going, but unfortunately, very few actual markings were produced.

July 23, 2011 - BVR Crimson Permanent Assurance x BVR Spike Shooter
Purpose: This litter was largely an outcross, and ran the risk of losing my markings, but bringing in fresher, more vigorous female stock. Some of the DAZL females of this line have had birthing issues and lost litters, and though we did not experience those issues, we wanted to be sure we were keeping our female line healthy. Spike was a robust, large girl with very big eyes and very correct, dark coloring to help rein in the "yellowing" modifiers from the DAZL stock. Crimson was a large, heavy-boned buck with a very good Satin coat, but definitely exhibiting the "yellowing" making his coat overly red. The babies produced in this litter were phenominal in size and type, though, as expected, not excessively marked.
