Planned Breedings

June 2013

BVR Liet-Kynes
Agouti Self
MLWR Nuriko
Black Self Satin

For our Black Satin line...

This is going to be a beautiful and exciting litter to fill a gap in our Black Satin line, due to unexpected illness in Liet's sons from his first litter. Nuriko is a bright, friendly, beautiful girl with a very distinct satin coat. Liet is a big, lovely guy who gave us some amazing babies in his first litter. We're hoping that this litter produces some black satin and helps shore up the line.

Pedigree

Expecting: Black, Agouti, Mink, Russian Blue and combinations thereof, in Standard and Satin coats. Dumbo ears possible but not expected.

August 2013

BVR Hector
Russian Blue Double-Irish Headspot
BVR Irrawaddy
Russian Blue Berkshire

For our Marked Russian Blue line...

It's so exciting to have two actual non-Agouti marked Russian Blues to work with! Both Hector and Irri are nice big kids, with very distinct white markings (though not yet correct to showing standards,) nice dark color, and rolly-tucky temperaments. Hector also has some very odd white spots around his head that I'm very interested to see if they will pass on to offspring.

Pedigree

Expecting: Russian Blue, Dove and Russian Beige possible. Satin coats possible.

October 2013

BVR Lankiviel
Mink Self
BVR Aeryn Sun or BVR Sikozu
Pearl-Merle Self

For our Russian Pearl line...

I'm super excited about this litter! Lankiviel is a beautiful big hefty boy with a lovely temperament, whose inherited some serious good bone structure from his grandmother, Champion BVR Black-Eyed Susan. Aeryn and Sikozu are both developing, and a determination on which will be better to use will depends on which stays healthiest, develops the clearest color and retains the best merle spots into adulthood. Lanki's color is too light and silvery for a proper Mink breeding, but that makes him perfect to help my new Pearl line along!

Pedigree

Expecting: Mink, Pearl and Russian Pearl with merling expected. Satin coats likely. Dumbo ears possible but not expected.

October 2013

BVR Pilot or BVR Crais
Pearl Merle Self
BVR Chiana
Russian Pearl-Merle Self

For our Russian Pearl line...

Just to widen my initial base of the bloodline a little, this sibling breeding will be an irrisistible treat!! Chiana is exactly what I want to produce in this line - a beautiful light, creamy color with distinct merle spots on her back - I only hope that her color remains clear and her spots stay visible, but just having a girl like her out of my first Pearl litter is such a wonderful thing! Her brothers are both beautiful boys with abundant spots, and I'm watching them carefully to see which develops to best compliment this breeding.

Pedigree

Expecting: Pearl and Russian Pearl with merling expected. Satin coats likely. Dumbo ears possible but not expected.

December 2013

BVR Carroll
Black Self
BVR Midsummer's Madness
Black Self

For our Russian Cinnamon line...

Continuing to try and inbreed and set the conformation of my former Black Satin line, while weeding out any possible color mutation that is hidden by Black and expresses on other colors. We're hoping for Russian Blue and Dove babies from this litter - we keep getting more Blacks!

Pedigree

Expecting: Black, Russian Blue and Mink in various combinations. Hoping for Satin coats. Dumbo ears possible but unlikely.

A note on my breeding plans...

Some of these plans are my thoughts at the time. They are not concrete and laid in stone until the day I put the doe with the buck. 90% of my breedings are based on the doe. I believe that the doe is more than 50% of the quality of the baby, not only does she contribute half the genetics, but all of the upbringing and teaching.

I try to breed my does fairly late, from 8-10 months, to be sure they are what I want to breed, that they have developed well and stayed healthy. The next step is to find a buck who will compliment her strengths and try and correct her weaknesses. The doe is the most concrete of the plans you see above. Unless she suffers a serious decline in health or a snag in her pedigree, I'm fairly confident to be breeding her. The buck I'll be using, however, has a much higher chance of changing, depending on development, temperamental/hormonal changes, and the development of siblings in addition to health and pedigree.

A doe has a limited breeding life. A buck can breed until the day he dies. It's almost always possible to set a buck aside for later use; not so much the doe.
