Russian Cinnamon Bloodline
History of the Line
Not all breedings done at the BVR are included: only breeding where offspring from that litter have gone on to add to the bloodlines. Some litters ended up being disqualified, or not used for some reason and so they are not included in this pedigree. This is only to show the continuity of one particular bloodline.
February 28, 2004 - NPXR Kaeman x MAN Ha'Kan'Ta
Purpose: Originally intended to bring in a fresh Russian Blue outcross for the Siamese line, this litter produced a Russian Cinnamon baby, the first identified as such in the US and I fell in love. Though I never got to breed that girl, I did breed her brother and Kirstin from FarStar bred her sister. This litter established the basis for my Russian Cinnamon line.
Produced:BVR Snack, Russian Blue Agouti Buck (Pet Placed and Bred at BVR)
BVR Potholder of FSTR, Dove Dumbo Doe (Placed and bred at FarStar Rattery)
April 26, 2004 - NXPR Benjiro x SRR-LMR Delilah
Purpose: After Benjiro's brother Kaeman produced such an awesome color, I wanted to breed Benjiro as well. I was hoping for a good, solid Russian Blue litter to cross Kaeman's litter to, and I got it.
Produced: BVR Somewhere Beyond the Sea, Russian Blue Doe (Placed and bred at EKO Rattery)
BVR Walk on the Ocean, Black Buck (Kept)
May 5, 2004 - NXPR Faramir x LSRC Celenne
Purpose: Attempting to produce more Cinnamons to be able to cross back into the Benjiro/Kaeman line, as well as producing Mink for FarStar Rattery to build on as she founded her rattery.
Produced: BVR Evanesco of FSTR, Mink Irish Doe (Placed and Bred at FarStar Rattery)
May 13, 2004 - OTR Amaretto of FSTR x LSRC Dannica of BVR
Purpose: FarStar Rattery's first litter, a co-breed to build on as she founded her rattery. This breeding became important for my rattery generations down the line, when I got descendants from Almond back.
Produced: BVR-FSTR Almond, Mink Dumbo Buck (Kept and Bred at FarStar Rattery)
May 13, 2004 - BVR Walk On The Ocean x FSTR Sayyadina
Purpose: Sayyadina was a lovely, robust girl who was carrying mink and probably Russian Blue. This was shortly after my bacterial outbreak that killed much of my rattery and my breeding options for females was extremely limited, but Sayyadina was a wonderful choice. She did well even though she was old at the time of her first litter.
Produced: BVR Yipiyuk, Mink Dumbo Buck (Kept and Bred at BVR)
January 5, 2006 - BVR Snack x EKO Mimi Marquez
Purpose: This was shortly after my bacterial outbreak that killed much of my rattery and my breeding options for females was extremely limited, and I had lost all the breedable animals from my Kaeman and Benjiro litters. Luckily Emilie from EKO gave me back a little girl out of Benjiros' daughter BVR Somewhere Beyond the Sea and one of my best friends still had a 2 year old pet-placed son of Kaeman named Snack. The two of them finally did the deed and gave me a litter to continue both lines.
Produced: BVR Moonpie, Russian Cinnamon Point Siamese Dumbo Doe (Placed and Bred at FarStar Rattery)
BVR Peanut, Dove Buck (Pet-Placed and Bred at BVR)
BVR Snickers, Russian Blue Agouti Doe (Kept and Bred at BVR)
April 5, 2006 - BVR Yipiyuk x ANR Hobbit On The Rocks
Purpose: Attempting to bring in markings to my Russian Cinnamon line, as well as very good Dumbo ears. It's a step I wish, in hindsight, that I had not taken, as the ANR line seems to have brought in benign mammary tumors and a tendacy to injury-site abcesses. Also added the charcoaling factor that lightens coats and gives a mock-Agouti/silver-belly effect.
Produced: BVR Hooperbloob, Black Berkshire Dumbo Buck (Kept and Bred at BVR)
BVR Lorax, Black Berkshire Dumbo Buck (Kept and Bred at BVR)
BVR Wocket, Black Berkshire Dumbo Doe (Kept and Bred at BVR)
March 17, 2007 - BVR Hooperbloob x BVR Snickers
Purpose: Attempting to put the outcross markings into my regular line. Hooperbloob died of a lung tumor which pathology showed was not highly heritable.
Produced: BVR Stubbed Toes, Charcoaled Cinnamon Berkshire Doe (Kept and Bred at BVR)
March 12, 2007 - BVR Lorax x BVR Wocket
Purpose: Attempting to in-breed the outcross to see what cropped up, also to force more markings to the surface. All four pups from this litter died at under 16 months of age from apparent heart problems.
Produced: BVR Oobleck, Charcoaled Mink Headspot Berkshire Dumbo Buck (Kept and Bred at BVR)
October 5, 2007 - BVR Oobleck x FSTR Drum
Purpose: Crossing the outcross litter to a stable, known line, attempting to bring markings to the stable line. Drum was descended from Evanesco, Potholder, and my Siamese line through FarStar's breedings.
Produced: BVR Ocarina, Mink Berkshire Doe (Kept and Bred at BVR)
October 5, 2007 - BVR Peanut x BVR Stubbed Toes
Purpose: Mistaking Stubbed Toes for a Russian Cinnamon when in reality her Cinnamon color was lightened and changed by the charcoaling from ANR Hobbit on the Rocks, we bred her to a pet-placed Dove boy out of Snack. Unfortunately, Peanut brought in massive respiratory issues, and most of his line was shut down. One daughter was unaffected by the issues and her line was continued.
Produced: BVR Pecan, Russian Cinnamon Doe (Kept and Bred at BVR)
BVR Chestnut, Cinnamon Doe (Kept - Co-Bred by BVR & FSTR)
June 14, 2008 - FSTR Lucky Charms x BVR Ocarina
Purpose: Lucky Charms was a beautiful guy, who we really waited on to breed because of a litter-mate with a tumor. He was a wonderful-tempered, healthy Mink rex guy, carrying Russian Blue and Satin, grandson of BVR Moonpie and great-grandson of Evanesco. Ocarina did not seem to inheirit her father's health problems, and has a beautiful head. Again, I was hoping to put some Berkshire markings in my Russian Cinnamon line.
Produced: BVR Yellow Moon, Dove Rex Buck (Kept and Bred at BVR)
July 31, 2008 - BVR Divinity x URSA Grand Champion FSTR Eadhadh
Purpose: Divinity was quite young at the time of this breeding, but was a son of one of my favorite Satin boys out of my Siamese line, and BVR Pecan, who was a Russian Cinnamon, so he carried everything I wanted in addition to having a fantastic head and good conformation. Eadhadh came from a line known for respiratory issues, but stayed free of them her whole life and did not pass them to her descendants.
Produced: BVR Dudelsack, Agouti Dumbo Buck (Kept and Bred at BVR)
July 31, 2008 - FSTR Rocket Man x BVR Chestnut
Purpose: A co-breed with the FarStar Rattery meant to help her line recover when several of her litters were unusable. Chestnut was a wonderfully conformed Cinnamon girl, but sadly died of massive respiratory issues under anesthesia for an abcess-site tumor removal.
Produced: BVR-FSTR Liar!, Pearl-Merle Buck (Kept and Bred at FSTR)
August 13, 2008 - FSTR Lucky Charms x BVR Marzipan
Purpose: Marzipan was quite young at the time of this breeding, but was a daughter of one of my favorite Satin boys out of my Siamese line, and BVR Pecan, who was a Russian Cinnamon, so she carried everything I wanted and would compliment Lucky well. Lucky produced such a quality breeding on his first go that I wanted to use him again, and I was nervous that the possible heart issues in Ocarina's line would render his first litter unusable.
Produced: BVR Mary of Gueldres, Russian Cinnamon Dumbo Rex Doe (Kept and Bred at BVR)
October 26, 2008 - WLLW Cassanova x FSTR Whiskers on Kittens
Purpose: Cassanova's pedigree was a boon, an outcross with heavy EKO influence and a double descent from BVR Somewhere Beyond the Sea, and a really lovely head and big bone, and a good match for our delicate, perfectly-colored and extremely outgoing Whiskers on Kittens who was a complete outcross. I had hoped that Cass would carry Mink, but did not; the breeding still gave us some extremely lovely and well-tempered offspring that improved on Cassanova's over-ruddy coloration.
Produced: BVR Chunky Monkey, Russian Blue Dumbo Buck (Placed and Reclaimed from EKO, Bred at BVR)
BVR Timey-Wimey, Russian Blue Agouti Buck (Kept and Bred at BVR)
November 13, 2008 - BVR Yellow Moon x URSA Grand Champion FSTR Eadhadh
Purpose: Moon had a fantastic head, very correct color and great ears, even if his rex coat was not very curly. Eadhadh, having just won her Grand Championship, was not only beautiful but personality plus, and I could not help trying for another litter from her. Knowing that Eadhadh carried Satin and Moon had a chance to was another fantastic opportunity, one that we lucked out with several Satin offspring with. The conformation and temperament in this litter was really a step forward.
Produced: BVR Lacus Temporis, Russian Blue Agouti Satin Doe (Kept and Bred at BVR)
BVR Lake of Summer, Agouti Rex Doe (Kept and Bred at BVR)
BVR Oceanus Procellarum, Russian Blue Agouti Buck (Kept and Bred at BVR)
URSA Grand Champion BVR Sea of Tranquility, Russian Blue Agouti Satin-Rex Doe (Placed and Bred at Dazzle Me Rattery)
June 18 , 2009 - BVR Dudelsack x FSTR Popsicle Sticks
Purpose: Poppy was absolutely one of the best temperaments I've ever had the pleasure to know, in addition to being a Satin with a Mink father. Dudelsack was her equal in flop and squish, a breeding done for almost pure temperament purposes. Surprisingly enough, I got an amazingly conformed daughter out of it that I used to continue the quest for Satin in my Russian Cinnamons.
Produced: BVR Ein Berliner, Russian Blue Agouti Satin Doe (Kept and Bred at BVR)
June 30 , 2009 - FSTR Bread Crusts x BVR Mary of Gueldres
Purpose: Bread Crusts had an absolutely wonderful conformation, a great head, and a fabluous temperament in addition to being a Satin with a Mink father. Mary was a very nice girl with a beautiful coat and temperament, and I hoped that Bread Crusts carried Russian Blue. Even though he did not, all his children were Satin and carried both Mink and Russian Blue.
Produced: BVR Fearn's Pippin, Agouti Satin Buck (Kept and Bred at BVR)
BVR Honeygold, Mink Satin-Rex Doe (Placed and Bred at FarStar Rattery)
September 6, 2009 - BVR Timey-Wimey x BVR Lake of Summer
Purpose: Still shoring up the healthy parts of my Russian Cinnamon bloodline, I used Timey-Wimey a second time as the healthiest and all-around best buck in this line who does not descend from Peanut, this time to a stunning daughter of BVR Yellow Moon and FSTR Eadhadh. These two rats could not compliment each other more, and gave me some really incredible babies.
Produced: BVR Until the Stars, Russian Cinnamon Doe (Kept and Bred at BVR)
March 26, 2010 - SLKY-BVR Cusco x BVR Until the Stars
Purpose: Because I was worried about possible heart complications in Bread Crusts and Popsicle Sticks, I wanted to make sure that I had a cleaner Satin addition to the Russian Cinnamon line. Cusco was a really fantastic boy from my Siamese line, and his size and robustness would help offset Star's petite build. Star's conformation and color were otherwise very good.
Produced: BVR Delphinus, Russian Cinnamon Doe (Kept and Bred at BVR)
BVR Corona Borealis, Russian Blue Agouti Satin Buck (Kept and Bred at BVR)
April 16, 2010 - BVR Chunky Monkey x BVR Ein Berliner
Purpose: Both Monkey and EB were big, robust animals with strong bone structure and very saturated color. I was hoping to get Russian Cinnamons with that same strong, heavy bone structure and good conformation.
Produced: BVR Jazz Chicken, Russian Cinnamon Buck (Kept and Bred at BVR)
BVR So... Yeah, Russian Cinnamon Doe (Kept and Bred at BVR)
December 28, 2010 - BVR Fearn's Pippin x BVR So... Yeah
Purpose: Sobe was very close to my ideal Russian Cinnamon color, had wonderful temperament and good conformation, while Pippin was a strong, robust and very dark Agouti boy with an amazing head and a great Satin coat. This was an ideal opportunity to put Satin into my best Russian Cinnamon color. The color of Sobe's offspring turned out extremely good, as most of the modifiers and recessive have been stripped out now.
Produced:BVR Shark Stimulation, Russian Cinnamon Buck (Kept and Bred at BVR)
BVR Sparks, Russian Cinnamon Doe (Kept and Bred at BVR)
February 28, 2011 - BVR Jazz Chicken x BVR Delphinus
Purpose: Jazz and Del both had Satin parents, and both of them were awesome rats. Jazz Chicken's color was exactly correct, and Del has an amazing head and nice, dark color with very little silvering. Both of them had amazing temperaments, and I was hoping to produce some sweet Satin Doves and Russian Cinnamons. I got my wish, though I am seeing some issues with obesity in this strain of the line, which needs work.
Produced: BVR Tigerlily, Dove Self (Kept and Bred at BVR)
